The Bourgeois Pig
Yep, this is a coffee shop. A rather interesting name, eh? The inside looked just as interesting but we didnt go in. We drove over 50 miles in the rain to get there and as soon as we did, nature gave me a call. Gave H just enough time to take this shot.

A cliche
Yeah, we know this is a cliche. :) We didnt want to do it initially but considering we go there almost everyday, its only fair that it be there in our list. I am still getting used to American coffee though. For me, nothing better than my mom's coffee.
A hot cup of coffee on a cold rainy day. Ah, life. :)

Exotic coffee anyone ?
H took this shot. But I get to write about it. It's next to Sunnin, and on the way to Diddy Riese, which are our two favourite eateries in LA. Not been here, but it looks appealing, especially at night. We took the shot in the day as a night shot would have been hard here. I wish the pole wasn't there in the shot though. Ah well, you got to work with what you got I suppose.

By UCLA
I found this display by UCLA. It's quite possible this shop doesn't sell coffee at all.
But I didn't have time to look. I was blocking traffic, and I took the picture and got
out of there. Besides, I was skipping the lunch hour at work, and didn't have too
much of time anyway.
If you look in the center, you will see the stupid dust bunny. I am too damn lazy to
get it out of there.
Also, D100 has a battery recall notice. I see a hiatus coming up. I hope to take a
few pictures as reserve to keep this project going.

Peet's Joint at Westwood
I took this picture skipping lunch. It's only about 2 miles from work, but going there and getting back took the better part of the hour. Traffic on Santa Monica sucks. And the construction has been going on for ever.
I also have a massive dust bunny on my camera. I need to take a few shots with the camera as a reserve before I turn it in for cleaning or else I am screwed.
Bah...

Diedrich of Malibu
Rashmi first mentioned that someone died rich. It turned out to be this coffee shop named after some German guy that started it. Anyway, this joint we found in Malibu, on the way back from the temple isn't really worth going to. The coffee there is so-so, and the eggnog latte is crappy. Heck, why bitch. It gave me a nice shot to start off the new theme for the week !

Christmas at Home [Part 2]
So in utter desperation, H decides to take a picture of an ornament on our tree. :) This completes our Christmas decor theme. We realize that the past 2 weeks have been mostly about trees.. they shouldnt figure in our postings for a long time in the future.
Had an absolute ball this Christmas - my first with my husband :) .... ate, drank and got totally merry. :)

Christmas at Farmer's Market [Part 2]
Also taken yesterday at the Farmer's Market, this house that was put up there breaks the daily monotony of Christmas Trees. There was a long line to go in, so we didn't bother, but I'm guessing they were selling some candy inside. Splendid house, and well well done.

Christmas at Farmer's Market
Went to the Farmer's Market with Rash and Harish. It was packed even at 10 in the evening. And their tree is so big, I can't even begin to explain. They ahve really taken the christmas decorations to another level this year. Infact, even the light posts were decorated, and they have built this house structure too. I'll be posting the house tomorrow if I don't get anything else.

Christmas at the Wilshire Grand
Took this picture while H was waiting by the car. Didn't get too much of time to frame the shot, but what you see is what you get I suppose. H does a poor post processing job.

Christmas at Home
Now, it's time for us to post one from our own home. That's our Christmas tree. There are a lot more lights, but they are timer driven, and don't fire all at the same time. So much for that.

Christmas in Bellevue
I took this picture in Bellevue, near our hotel. Bellevue is very close to Seattle, and that's where we actually stayed when we were there. It's a nice, small town, and has a rather huge mall. Very seriously, them folk take their Christmas. The shot was taken in rather cold weather, and since I don't have a tripod, the shot had to suffer. I didnt' want to post this today, but I had to as the one Rash took today was really unuseable. Can't blame her. Night shots without a tripod are quite hard. Note to self : Get a tripod before the next night series.

Christmas at Century City
Took this shot at the Century City mall, next to my office. Need to make two trips there to get it right as it was cold and my hands were shaking. I really need a tripod. Manfrotto anyone? Donations??? :)

Yellows of Fall
While driving past Cheviot hills, Rash and I spotted this wonderful tree, sticking out, with it's brilliant colour. We just had to stop and take a shot.
This concludes the Trees theme. Tomorrow onwards, we will be doing a Christmas theme, so hold your breath !!!

More Pines
This picture was taken somewhere in Oregon, probably along the scenic waterfall highway. It's a nice picture, but was I was hoping to do a better job with post processing.

Pine trees
I took this picture on the road, while driving to Oregon. Something about this place enchanted me. The whole place was so green.

Last of the Getty's
We have posted a lot of Getty pics this week. I guess it's hard to go hunt for trees during the work week, and by the time I get out of the office, it's already real dark, and what trees can we shoot after that. This particular shot was interesting in the sense that my hands were shivering when I first attempted to take it. It was rather cold, and I retried the shot after I had a coffee. I am trying to convince Rash that we need a tripod. She agrees but refuses to release the moolah. Women... :)

Autumn colours
This is my favourite tree pic. I took it at Getty. Notice the fall colours. very rare in LA.
For all those who plan to come to LA, the Getty museum is a must-see. Its a beautilful hillock with wide open spaces, manicured gardens and most importantly, an amazing canvas for taking pictures. :)

Multnomah Falls
I took this shot near Multnomah falls, in Oregon a few weeks back. The tree was all moss covered, and waiting for someone to take a shot of it. It was rather tall, and there was no clearance for me to take a full shot while doing justice to it. All in all, I think it's an interesting photo. Wonder how long that tree has been there, watching everyone come and look at the falls, and leave...

Bottle Brush
This week's theme is trees. It was to be fast food joints, but it was rather late and my hands were shaking. So the shots came out crappy. I'll save that theme for later. This particular shot was taken by Rashmi in Getty, a few months back. She says it's her favorite tree, the bottlebrush. Well, if she says so....

Gary and Devika
Rashmi got this neat shot of Gary and Devika to end our Portrait week. We have gone with the theme for 6 straight days, and from Monday, we will start the next theme. Let's see what that's going to be.

Yankee Doodle : Santa Monica

Rash and I joined Mushie, Gary, Devika and Manas at Yankee Doodle, at the 3rd Street Promanade. It's a good thing we took the camera there, as the waitress who was selling shots posed for me. Nice female.

Santa Baby
and my next portait is the male flavour of the season. ;)
He was sitting in the middle of the food court posing for pictures with each of the 20 odd children waiting to meet him. And know what.. this is the best Santa Claus I've seen. and not just coz he posed specially for me. But he isnt your sad skinny 10$-an-hour Santa. He is so round and chubby and angelic looking.

Mushie at Balboa
After spending the day looking desperately for subjects, I had to fall back on an older picture. It's a nice picture of Mushie I took outside the cycle rental place on Balboa island earlier in the year. It sure would be sad if I didn't put the picture up. So, that's today's job accomplished. Man, it's REALLY hard to get subjects for portraits with all the permission and all.

Marie
Ok...So I got to take the camera out today. Didnt have to look far for my first portrait.
This is my lovely friend, Marie. All the way from Montreal to soak up the California sun.
Will not post anything more ..... Just that the office would be a real boring place for me without Marie.

Rashmi
Today Rash and I start a project (inspired by miskan.com) where we upload a picture every day, based on a weekly theme.
The first week's theme is 'Portraits'.
As far as possible, I am going to try uploading a picture that I have taken in the recent past.
Our weapon is a Nikon D100 with a 18-85mm Nikkor lens. I got it a few months back, and I love it.
My first subject is my favorite. My wife... I suspect she's going to be in quite a few times over the course of the year. This particular picture is taken while hiking around the mountains of Malibu, and she wasn't particularly cooperating with me on the picture.
