Westin Bonaventure
This is probably downtown's most famous hotel. It's been the setting for so many many
movies, it's hard to keep track. There's a nice revolving restaurant at the top, and I
go there sometimes. The famous scene in which Arnold takes the elevator while
mounted on a horse in true lies was taken here. In fact, there's a plaque in that elevator
commerating the event :)

Radisson
Right opposite to USC, is the Radisson hotel. USC has a huge stake in this hotel. Some
sources say that USC owns it. Either way, 2-3 floors of this hotel serve as dorms
for students studying at USC. Fun eh? :)

Sheraton
Started in 1937, the Sheraton group of hotels is one of the two hotel chains that
lay claim to be the first hotel chain listed on NYSE (the other being Hilton). I do not
know the history of this Sheraton, but I can't imagine it being interesting. This
particular hotel is next to Rash's office, and is probably is obstructed by her building,
coz I have never seen it !

Park Hyatt
Bang in the center of Century city, right between the 2 studios is this Park Hyatt. This week's
theme being a lazy one, we didn't go out to get the shot, and instead relied on a stock shot.
I have nothing to say about this hotel except that it looks very eerie.

Wilshire Grand
Overlooking Rash's office, the Wilshire Grand is one of downtown's prominent
hotels. This hotel was built in 1952, and was initially a part of the Startlet
empire. The empire was then sold to Conrad Hilton for $111 million in what
was then the world's largest real estate transaction. I guess Hilton offloaded
the hotel later sometime.

Evian
Totally running out of ideas, I took this shot right outside the toilet door. Yeah,
height of desperation !
Look at the bright side. The theme is over today.

Crystal Geyser
We don't usually get this brand. Picked up the bottle yesterday for some variety
in this theme. For the shot, I placed the bottle on top of the A/C, next to the
kitchen clock.

Gerolsteine
I took this shot by putting the bottle on top of the display ladder in the living
room and having the Japanese lamp as the backdrop. I took two shots, one with
a flash and one without. This one was a lot darker, but it reminded me of a
sunset. I am such a romantic...
To those counting, this was post 200...
γγγΎγ (If that doesn't render well, get Japanese fonts !!!)

Smart
After a good picture yesterday, this one isn't fun. So, I took it by one of my favourite
spots in the apartment, when the lava lamp needs Rash's and my picture. The rainbow
coloured thing behind the bottle is Google schwag as is the lava lamp.

Fiji
Rashmi decided that she's moved up in life. She pretty much only drinks this water now.
And yeah, it's expensive...
The shot was illuminated by my new intel powerbook's apple logo. It gives a cool effect.

Free as in Freedom
There was a Redhat sponsored raffle I attended once. The speaker was Warren Togami and
it was interesting. The prizes were cool too, including some t-shirts and a cool red hat and
stuff. I won a bloody bottle of water... I mean wtf...
It adorns my bookshelf now. And no, it's so old it's not potable.

Holy Penguin Water
There are some weeks where inspiration fails. Ok, most weeks are that way,
but some weeks it's REALLY bad. This week is one such. I am going to
post bottles of mineral water. Yay ! Exciting !
We use only mineral water for drinking here, and we have a range to choose from.
This particular chap is posing with his friends.

Cuba
Yeah, the name is a little misleading. It's a Cuban joint. Rather close to home. We go there
once in a lazy while. The food is decent, though the service and the cleanliness leaves
a ton to be desired. It's cheap, and you get the food real fast. I guess the downside to
that is that the food is pre-cooked. The joint is pretty much always packed.

Italia
A short walk away from our house, this joint is apparently high class, and very popular.
Rash and I blew up some money there when we went to celebrate my new job a
few months back. I got sloshed on merlot, but it was cool as I didn't have to drive back.
The food was very good too. Rash and I are not great fans of Italian food, but this
joint was different.

Morocco
At Westwood, there's a joint called Koutoubian, which is today's post. We just got back
home after dinner there. The food is awesome, and the ambiance is nice and relaxed.
There's a very pretty belly dancer, and coz we went late, we literally got a private dance.
I'd recommend the Moroccan martini, and end the evening with the mint tea. The manager
called it the best in the world, and I'll tell you what. He's probably right.
Am I going to go back? You betcha.

Greece
This is where Rash eats often. It's a decent place, and has so-so baklava. I have been there
only once, but she brings me food from there whenever she makes me wait too long while
I go to pick her up.
I'd like to go to Greece some day.

America
I'll admit. This wasn't my original post for today. Rash was to take a shot of a joint
near her office, and she completely screwed me over. And it's way too late for me
to go and get a shot. Anyway, this joint is, well, American. It's been open for
80 odd years, and the front door has never closed. It's in downtown LA, and
I wonder how many time's it's been robbed. The place is very popular, and
Rash and I tried it once. The food is utter crap, and I wouldn't recommend it
to anyone.

Indonesia
This joint is walking distance from our house. I don't particularly think it's great but Rash
enjoys it. Besides it's the only Indonesian place I have had food at, so there's nothing to
benchmark with.

Karaoke
We caught this shot when we were in Little Tokyo. We never actually went to this place,
but probably will some day. The issue is that not too far away is a sushi joint that
has the most amazing sushi ever. Real japanese style cooking, and really really
fresh fish. And rather expensive too...

Pink is the Colour
This is my best shot ever. I took it in McCormick and Schmick at Bellevue.
The place kicked ass, and it was just after we finished all the shopping and
sight seeing. It was a great trip, now that I look back at it. We really enjoyed
ourselves.

Dancer's Pose
Right up the Multnomah falls, Rash posed for me. The same pose she'd have given at
a dance recital way back from the time she 'could' dance.

A Failed Shot
One day, when some of her pictures didn't come well, Rash was in a rather pissed mood.
I took this shot, after she cooled down, and was amused at what she was pissed about !

Dicking around at home
I found this picture from 6 months ago. Rash and I were dicking around at home, and
I snapped this one. I think this was the same day that she went to Pier 1 and blew
up a cool chunk of change on dinner plates. Which we are yet to use...

Reflections
Taken in Santa Monica, where Rash was trying to make a purchase. I think it was also the
time Siby was in town. For academic interest, she didn't buy anything that day.

Some Toothpaste Ad
This was taken during the week that we posted the piers of Los Angeles. It was rather
cold (for her) and you can see she's leaving no stone unturned in a attempt to keep
warm :)

Rashmi at Hollywood
This week, we complete exactly half a year since this project started. It's been fun
most of the time. But it's also been a lot of hard work. I am going to post a few
shots of Rashmi that we took during our photographic outings.
This particular one was at Hollywood, when Siby was in town.

Da Vince Code
As it's the flavour of the month, here's the Da Vinci Code. It's not in my list of favourites,
though I must admit, I did enjoy it a lot. This particular book is an illustrated version,
and Rash wanted one fo these so she could see what the book was talking about.
(This was long before the movie). One of her friends (yeah, guy-friends) got it for her.
The picture was taken in almost total darkness. The only light was a leak from the bezel
blue display of the coffee machine. It gives it almost an eerie feel. I tried to take away
some of the noise that creaps at such long expostures.

The Prophet
I read this book a long time ago. And then I bought it for Rash. I think it's the first book I
ever got her. It's an awesome piece, and very very deep. I think I will re-read this book
in the near future.

The Alchemist
This is Rashmi's book. She is too lazy to post. So I'll tell you what I thought about it.
The book is utter shit. Highly overrated, and it went no where. Don't make the
mistake of picking it up.

The Great Indian Novel
This novel was given to me by Piggu just before I left for the US. I couldn't
read it then, but I brought the book with me to the US, and read it later on.
It was an amazing book, and as far as political satire goes, this is as good
as it gets.
H.
awesome book.
