Belmont Pier

Belmont pier isn't spectacular. It's south of Long Beach. Early in the 20th century,
the residents of Belmont wanted a pier. They also wanted to be a city, so they
voted overwhelmingly to break away from the control of Long Beach. But a
few years of a much higher taxes to support their city made them wizen up
and ask Long Beach if they can join back, the condition being Long Beach
builds them a pier. So that's how this pier came about.

Redondo Pier

The Redondo Pier is probably the biggest pier in the whole county. It's rather
large, and is circular, so you can walk on it and end up where you started.
It is in part in concrete, and some parts are shaped like a ship. I was going to
post the picture that showed the shape of the ship, but this one was sort of very
vibrant.

Hermosa Pier

This is a rather nice beach, and has a lively pier. Looks dead, but the
other end of the pier has a few happening restaurants and pubs. The
seafood in this area is amazing. Also there are some rather nice houses
lining the beach, and are probably too expensive for me to think
about just yet :)

Manhattan Pier

We took a shot of this pier from a distance. Sort of gives a general shape to the
whole structure. Manhattan beach is a rather quiet beach, and it's got a really
wild bar called Sharkeys, where I have had some good experiences, including
watching a chic take her panties off and play with me.

Venice Pier

Venice beach is the closest beach to our apartment. We go there rather often,
and the street by the beach is rather wacko. Prob will figure in another weekly
theme, but we will wait for summer for it.

The pier, however is a little off the main beach front. It's usually empty, and stands
alone in the middle of the seafront. It's on a popular bike trail so people cycling
by can hear Wordsworth's lines adapted for it -

"Behold her, single in the seafront ...
... Stop here, or gently pass"

Santa Monica Pier

This is our favourite pier in all of LA County. It's right next to the Promenade, Santa Monica's very own Brigade Road. Remember Bubba Gump Shrimp co.? They have a small shack here on the pier alongside a newly renovated pub/restaurant.

The wheel you see is powered by solar energy, the only wheel to work that way. :) Its probably Santa Monica's most famous landmark.. you can spot it for miles away on the coastline.

Malibu Pier

This is a beautiful little pier 8 miles from our favourite joint in Malibu - the Gladstones. Not many people around. A few families out with their fishing rods and a guy getting lucky with his girlfriend. :)

We were racing against time to get this shot after a long day of driving around (H, that is) and taking pictures. The raw shot was king of yellowy because of the setting sun. Gave it saturation and a little white balance. Didnt turn out too bad, I think.
